Michele Campobasso
Michele Campobasso is a Senior Security Researcher at Forescout, specialising in the analysis of cybercriminal ecosystems and the threats they enable. He earned his PhD from the Security Group at Eindhoven University of Technology in March 2024, where his research focused on understanding and characterising the cybercriminal marketplaces that drive attack innovation at scale. His work combines insights from economics and criminology to identify which underground communities pose the most significant real-world risks, and it has been published across several top scientific conferences recognised internationally (ACM CCS, USENIX Security, IEEE Euro S&P).
At Forescout, Michele applies his academic expertise to investigate emerging threats, helping organisations and the wider security community better understand how cybercriminal operations evolve and how to defend against them effectively. Currently, he focuses on how AI is mutating the threat landscape and how defenders could leverage it to better understand large cybercriminal phenomena.
