Rowena Young, Director of Coconut Lime, lives on the Dorset / Somerset border with her husband and three children.
After graduating from Queen Mary College, London in 1998, Rowena started her career in telecoms sales. She worked for 4Com in its early stages, being top performer in the telemarketing team every month for over a year, before moving into field sales, hitting her “car target” in the first three months and then being promoted to sales management. Rowena continued to develop her career in telecoms yet further with Bistech, on the South Coast.
After taking time away from telecoms sales while her children were young, Rowena decided to set up Coconut Lime to fill a gap in the market for recruiters who really listen to their candidates – something she felt was lacking while she was looking for telecoms jobs herself.
The name “Coconut Lime” was chosen, as Rowena wanted the company to feel “refreshingly different” to work with and clients regularly claim that this is very much the case.
Coconut Lime is now a team of two and the company donates 3% of its turnover each year to Young Lives vs Cancer, a charity that’s very close to Rowena’s heart.
Rowena specialises in telecoms sales recruitment, although recruits people in all roles in telecoms and IT, from technical support professionals and engineers to managing directors and marketing executives.
Having spoken with over 1,000 jobseekers in telecoms in the past 12 months, Rowena has a good deal of insight into what motivates a good sales executive and what encourages them to stay with their employer.
